Designers are vital to satisfying the needs or requirements of all the people that could possibly walk into the space. Designers also influence feelings and behaviors through their design choices. Therefore, feelings and behaviors are experienced because of the interactions with the environment. User needs are satisfied by utilizing person-environment theory, the components resulting in positive behaviors, and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Composition and psychology of humans are the basic mechanisms of completing factors of our built environment to satisfy as many needs as possible for users.




THE REHABILITATION OF THE WHALEY HOUSE
The historical significance of this structure is its association with the Builder and Owner himself, W. B. Smith Whaley. Whaley was an imperative member of Columbia, SC Society. He was responsible for a lot of the infrastructure of the city. This Queen Anne home was built in 1893. The house still maintains its individualist features that make it the only type of structure in Colombia.




MOUNTAIN HERITAGE CENTER
2020 This was a commercial renovation project aimed at integrating the Breese Building into the new Mountain Heritage Center combining the rich history of the region into a historical building.
